TEAM-TOURNAMENT 1

Post by RSE_Dissy »

This here is a suggestion and discussions topic for a proposal for a TEAMPLAY tournament.

2vs2

Players would enter in pairs, and the tournament would be competed as normal.

Two teams of races would be decided prior to the tournament, (i.e: Rom/Fed vs Kling/Ferg), players at top get to pick first etc etc!

Althoe 4 player games can be more unstable. I think this has a chance if we keep it limited to 8 Teams, 16 Players = each team has 3 games to play if they reach the final!

Plz discuss

It would be nice, I love team games, but I worry about games being completed.

We would need firm commitment from players for this.

I think this a good idea, and I would prefer to play Team games to standard MP Tournaments.

I am just not sure if I wouldn't prefer a general non tournament thinking in such games, but both styles have their merits.

Go for it and subject to availability, I would be happy to support it.

An excellent idea, I'm in for sure.

One suggestion, though: No kling. A vet player can make 20 kvort in 20 turns, and no I'm not joking. 20 kvort will kill 30 command by himself.

rom/fed vs card/ferg is a balanced matchup on t5 med.

And anyone who's interested in partnering up, let me know.

Would it be more interesting to run it as a straight league?

You could do it so every team plays each other once, or twice - doing it twice - whilst taking longer to accomplish would allow a "home" and "away" style approach where both teams get the chance to chose settings.

Although if you managed to get 16 people who are all comfortable and in a decided team then 8 teams means 7 games - you just might struggle to pull that off though, so the uneven team number could be managed in a league.

The more important question is:

Who wants to be MY partner? 8) 8) 8)

I second that but I'll wait until Flocke finished his BotF Network Engine. Without it a 4p game is a waste of time. (imo)

Dice chance sounds good. So you have to adapt to someone you normally wouldn't choose as a partner. Makes the hole thing interesting, capricious and skips the dating. I like the idea.
