Talk talk talk. Seems that's all some people do. But that's all they ever did anyway. Beating a good player is something they only hope to do and since they lack the skill level they talk and talk and talk....

btw, did I mention I'm #1? 8) 8) 8)

The tournament is concluded with me as the winner,

final played out like this;

i pick t4 large many irreg imposs no randoms ( i pick this with rom v card in mind )

chris picks fed v card

i pick card, reluctantly, i think chris expected me to go with fed as i hate card but alas no!

i had 285 sys he had 255 sys, neither extra dil.. i got mine quickly via mizar and later ktaria.. met fergs and went on conquer rampage, had 6 cr2s and loadsa TTs, conquered them and by that time had 20 ish dest.. met fed during conquering and started the heavy intel, had ktaria so knew id break thru, must of got a total of 15 industry buildings on his majors.. i scrap cc2 and mass build dest all over empire, upgrade when i see his 6 cc near me + tts, he was in corner, near ish ferg but isolated; unlucky for chris; i rampaged thru to sol and game finished on turn 69 with a battle above Earth..

here are some screenshots, first my expansion into fed space

and my fleet after the battle

well played chris, you got unlucky and i caught you off guard by going as cards i guess, gg, and brilliant tournament all round!

Match report: Dissy vs Chris

Dissy took Cards, leaving me with Feds. Victory goes to Dissy.

I started in the bottom left corner, pretty secluded. I knew my only chance was to build infrastructure, reasearch, affilliate as many minors ready for the 'pop', conquer an AI and aim for the 'end game' before meeting Cards.

It didn't start too well, meeting just 3 minors, but I affiliated them anyway to wait for them to 'pop'. I then met Ferg by turn 30, with the intention of conquering them.

However, my plan was soon put to rest when I realised Cards had already met them and had already taken Ferenginar. At this point, I knew I was defeated, because I had no chance of matching Card production of Destroyers in early game.

However, I thought I would give it a go and see what would happen. Turns out it was a waste and was only delaying the inevitable for 30 turns, with my expensive but low numbered 9CC2s against a horde of Card Destroyer 2s.

Hindsight is wonderful, from this game I know a Fed vs Card match-up was probably not the best idea. Fed start with DD2, whereas card starts with DD1. This gives card a massive credit advantage from being able to build DD1s every turn then upgrading. I was stuck with 8 turn/5k command ships as the Fed dd2 was not worth the price/build time.

A poor performance from me, but a stellar one by Dissy.

Good game Dissy, you deserve to win and receive the title of champion. :)

Strange matchup you chose chris. fed sucks in t4.

congrats Dissy, well deserved and long overdue status as a champion.
i do think there should be special recognition for the finalist, chris fought a good battle.

Thanks RF, but no recognition for me as the finalist is needed. We all fought good battles, yourself in particular, and it was a pleasure to play such people. :)

Zayd: The tournament is over, but keep an eye out, I'm sure there will be more.
