Vulcan LCARS

Post by sean_west »

Hi all,

Does anyone have a picture of a vulcan LCARS pannel or PADD

I am making a mod, and need a vulcan style theme, but I can not find any pictures to guide me anywhere.

hmmm interesting, i haven't seen any though.
Your best shot would probably be the Enterprise series, but they were so guarded about giving us 'backward, illogical humans' too much info on anything so i doubt you'll see very much of their tech

well i've had a rummage around for you, there's a not to brilliant shot of a Vulcan padd in memory alpha, http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/PADD

some examples of vulcan writing that might prove useful

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Image:Vulcanscripts.GIF

and a pic of a medical scanner, it's not clear but the text looks like it might be vulcan on the LCARS

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Image:V ... _soval.jpg

and you might be able to glean some colours or textures from this pic

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Image:K ... vation.jpg

well it's something at least, it's a bugger to even have found this lot.

Judging from the pics stardust posted I'd suggest to go for vertical arrangements of UI whenever possible and to use Vulcan letters (or their structure of circular patterns and vertical lines) as a get-go for any design work. Colourwise I'd keep it limited to oranges, yellows, browns and shades of ocres to somewhat resemble the colours found in natural Vulcan environments.

Cheers,
Siggi
...of course, this was also true at the Birth of the Federation...

It might have been easier to do this if i'd made an effort to watch ENT rather than thinking 'how can they suddenly tear up the hstory books and start over..?' whenever i did see it

the Vulcan IDIC is a no brainer for the cursor :D

There is very few pictures of Vulcan Tech, since they do not like sharing it with us illogical humans.

I amtrying to create a mixture between Vulcan and Federation Design. Fleet Icons I have sorted, it is just the GUI I am fighting with.

I spend several days working on a screen, thinking it is great.....

so I put it into the game to test it and think, Nah this looks sh*t and delete it.

It is like shoveling snow whilst it is still snowing.

These pictures are great stardust, cheers.

Siggi, Was it you who posted on the old forum the guide for makin 3D ships using Milkshape?

I hadit on my old HD, but that went bang........

Damn, we had a reeeeaaaally old thread on the BOTF2 forums with possible "alien" interfaces but it looks like it was lost when Jigalypuff deleted the old game development forum in 2006. :(

I'll dig through our backups and see what I can find for you though. It's great having admin privileges.

one more thing i've seeen on my travels.... if you've seen the ENT episode 'Fusion', you get some great views of the interior of a Vulcan ship and some of their consoles.
