Yep that was the plan -- I did alot of research on the look of the original series consoles and control panels -- all blinking red, green, yellow, cyan and, blue gel lights but I tried that and it look aweful - and was too confusing. since none of the buttons had lable and would have been a nightmare to make it work so I opted for a psudo-TMP with TOS elements.

Definitely a lot of hard work went into the GUI and it looks like it paid off! Very well done . I look forward to the release of the mod with more eagerness than a Ferengi waiting for payday.

hay guys just a bit of a what if..? post:
I been thinking about a random event for the TOS MOD; basicly a nebula would turn into a star and an m-class (genisis) planet al la ST2:TWoK and ST3:SFS maybe a red giant as it then is vunerable t the supernova effect. If anyone has any ideas on implementation let me know. I expect it to be very code intensive and extensive but just thought it might be worth airing the idea:

[should be] an easy task if you want to learn programming, cause adding planets/star systems via savegames is already known and turn progress or random events can easily be capsulated in a codecave.Peter1981 wrote:hay guys just a bit of a what if..? post:

Wow, that GUI overhaul you did looks awesome. I'm sure it'll add a great and unique atmosphere to this old game. Respect!

don´t worry mate, you keep doing the rest of the mod, i´ll see what can i do... give me few days, i think using saladin as a starting model, i can make it a little bit faster than usual, though the texture would take me those "days"

I'm not a 3D artist either, but Blender is definitely not n00b-friendly. The last time I tried it, I couldn't even find the quit button!
I used to use trueSpace 3 for all my 3D editing, I found it very intuitive. No need to even read the tutorials. I haven't tried the latest version, but you can get it for free -- since Microsoft bought out the company and, as usual, ran it into the ground. But at least they made trueSpace freeware

Blener3D really isn't noob friendly, especially with all it's hidden features, but it's a very powerful and comprehensive tool.
I learned quite alot about it, so if you have questions, feel free to ask. (If you're going to learn this tool seriously, you will have questions, no doubt)
Another free and more easy tool, at least as far I've heard, is Wings3D, but never gave it a try myself.
