Star Trek XII shall we discuss?

Post by HsojVvad »

Hey guys and galls, long time no see. Been gone for a long while. Back now. :)

Well I herd somewhere, (can't remember TV or Radio) that the person who played the Robocops movie, I think the first and second one, the guy who was Robocop will be in Star Trek XII. That is all I know about the next movie to be released in 2013 May I think. I am sure the original cast (of the reboot) will be back as well.

I never did see ST XI in the theaters, not sure if I will see XII either. Guess will see how the comercials and rumours will be. So anyone looking forward to this movie?

Welcome back HsojVvad. :) From what I have been hearing bits and pieces... yes Peter Weller (Robocop) will be in the movie but his role has not been confirmed. It was also reported that Benecio Del Toro will be in the movie as well. It was thought he would play the role of Khan in the movie but Jar Jar has dismissed these rumors as untrue. Whether or not he was referring to Khan in the movie or Del Toro as Khan as "untrue" no one really knows. Personally I hope they do not bring Khan into the movie as it will destroy the memory of Ricardo Montalban portraying the character. Some people who have embraced this "nutrek" have said they wish to see a new baddie in the movie instead of going back to old enemies. But really if this WAS suppose to be a reboot then we need to see the baddies of old just re-imagined. Since Abrams prefers eye candy over substance in his movies it would be prudent for him to make a sequel about the Klingon/Federation war that was looming in the back story in the previous movie. Lots of pretty colored CGI ships and phasers and torpedoes firing from all over the place on the ships with an epic fight between a shirtless Kirk and say Kang (Del Toro?) at the end of the movie... yeah... that is a teeny boppers proverbial wet dream in today's movies (a typical action flick). Really though whatever he does for a major plot I would like to see a space monster in it as well i.e. the Doomsday Machine. He also needs to beef up on trek science as well because despite a lot of what trek was about in regards to science fiction the writers still tried at keeping it real so to speak. Abrams with his movie basically threw all science and science fiction out the window just to make the movie fit together. Whatever the case I'm sure the movie will not live up to expectations from trekkies of old.

for the case he rly brings Khan... that'll become an almost impossible task to match ppl's expectations.

Even with Benicio who is the shit imo. Roboflop-guy is a mere bad joke, isn't it??

If expectations won't met, ppl will run amok and this'll be his downfall. Shit, he should do something rly new and groundbreaking which wasn't there b4. He could somehow prepare a Khan-Story... and extending it to movie 3 f.e.

Making a remake with one of the greatest villains from one of the best movies ever is like climbing the K2... Good luck on this one JJ...

Agreed with Tc, for me, the new ST movies are the Twilight of vampire movies... the bottom of the barrel, yet still somehow relevant.

They could easily resurrect the franchise by following the rules aka prime timeline. :/

People hated ENT because it was a prequel. :(

Actually what I disliked was that giant timewar thing.... that was stupid. Seeing Soong before he decided to create androids? EPIC AWSOME!!!!

If ST would return to the prime-line, I would have no problems watching it and considering it canon. But because its not set in Genes universe, I will refuse to acknowledge it as canon (although the events of Hobus, I would consider canon). Its just too far different than the original. It lost its 'feel'. :(
