Re: Crash logs and solutions
I often felt (and still feel) like a Pakled reading specific topics in here. But that's nothing to be ashamed of oneself, as I know at least a few topics where I could make ppl look like Pakleds, too.
Some times in the past I also chose the way to do so. But I can say that I didn't feel any better afterwards at all. You give nothing positive, you'll get nothing back. Effectively you thrown a boomerang. It's that easy.

Re: Crash logs and solutions
I got the following crash log:
Version Under Test: 72
File: ..\..\source\game\military\battle.c, Line: 2289, orderOfBattle->sector->systemId != INVALID_SOLAR_SYSTEM_ID
Initialize State: 31
Player Empire: 1 Starting Seed: 1321235557
Galaxy shape: 0 Galaxy Size: 2
Turn State: 20
Turn Number: 92
I have modded a bunch of things using UE and a hex editor and do get crashes from 10 planets in a system - but this does not seem to be one of those (first, this seems to only be a crash when it involves the player and second, going through the 300 or so systems using UE I didn't find any 10 planet systems). I probably added some star system names (although I have no real recollection of that, but it was quite awhile ago). Any help in sorting this out would be appreciated.
I did move a bunch of systems around in UE from the first game turn save, mostly so that the various races get the 'correct' minors (e.g. the Federation really should get the Vulcans and Andorians and probably the Trill and Betazoids as well). Is it possible that the Edo Guardian or the Minosian whatever is in the 'wrong' system, since the system moves but not any attached fleets, which is causing this error?

Re: Crash logs and solutions
This might be a new one and one for Flocke to look at, this is trek.exe crash log from earlier, I dont remember what I was doing but here it is:
-------------------------------------
ST:BOF Wed Dec 28 11:17:42 2011
Version Under Test: 72
File: arc.c, Line: 974, _writeArcFp!=NULL

Galaxy shape: 0 Galaxy Size: 1
Turn State: 17
Turn Number: 1
EDIT: It might have something to do with me testing a MP game with myself over Wz with bypass enabled too

no, that's not related to mpr++Tethys wrote:This might be a new one and one for Flocke to look at, this is trek.exe crash log from earlier, I dont remember what I was doing but here it is
What do I always say? Don't play on warzone with multiple games behind one router!Tethys wrote:EDIT: It might have something to do with me testing a MP game with myself over Wz with bypass enabled too
You don't need warzone for this anyway, connect by TCP/IP like normal in LAN, no need to type an ip either.
Re: Crash logs and solutions
Well I got a new one for everyone to look at:
ST:BOF Mon Jan 9 12:46:41 2012
Version Under Test: 72
File: ..\..\source\ui\tactical\objview.cpp, Line: 441, obj->handle != I3D_INVALID_HANDLE
Initialize State: 31
Player Empire: 0 Starting Seed: 1326131064
Galaxy shape: 0 Galaxy Size: 1
Turn State: 20
Turn Number: 10
I got this when entering combat between some Cardassian ships and Tholian ships. I had made some phaser.hob changes as a test to distinguish between Cardassian and Dominion ships (originally they shared the same phaser.hob cphaser.hob). I added UDM3 hobs and renamed them to give me a total of 12 phaser hobs to play with i.e. cards=cphaser.hob dominion=dphaser.hob I am not sure of this is the problem though so I did not post it in UE thread. Anyone got an idea?

Re: Crash logs and solutions
did the dphaser.hob show up in dropdown list?
did you check the hex code changes needed for this fix? (not sure if UE sets trek.exe for new code)

Re: Crash logs and solutions
found a bug,
in object database ship selection gets remembered but if you load another game and play a race with less ships than last selection it crashes once you open database again:
This crash also was reported two times for galaxies mod, but that was related to new technologies.
Starting a new game last selection gets automaticly reset, that's what it should do on loading savegames, too.
Or selection should default to first entry rather than to crash.

Re: Crash logs and solutions
Hi, can anyone help me with this? I keep getting this crash log entry, it crashes while the game is processing the turn.
Indeed the name of the Romulan empire was missing. I re-entered the name using the UE, the turn was able to process, but a few turns down the line it happens again. The other post says it might be caused by editing systems of the saved game, but I haven't done this.
I do however have a larger size galaxy than normal, 52x39.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
I found some information about it here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2324ST:BOF Mon Feb 6 15:10:38 2012

Re: Crash logs and solutions
Damn, now I encountered this one as well. It's a file access error that almost happens every time playing mp with two mpr++ instances on same computer when resuming a minimized window when turn process got suspended waiting for minimized window.Tethys wrote:File: arc.c, Line: 974, _writeArcFp!=NULL

I dunno why it happens, also happens with a botf copy + adjusted stbof.ini so both instances have their own path.
Interestingly I had a few occassions where it didn't crash, though exact same procedure.
I think there must be some access conflict. Who knows maybe both instaces still work on same path though ini changed.
Please someone try if it happens in network or internet mp too. thx
