I <3 Thunderchero's UDM, and also <3 Dafedz's UM5, but I want the 'Best of Both Worlds' (sorry, couldn't help myself...) in that I want structures that upgrade themselves (UM5), and the sheer flexibility of ship choices and galaxy size (UDM)...
Any plans on a UM5 with gigantic galaxy capability, or a UDM with self-upgrading structures? If not, Dafedz, how did you make it so that your structures updated themselves?

UM5 was not the first mod to have no upgrades of structures, and it will not be the last.
first mod was a prototype mod "no building upgrade mod"

As for UDM I thought about it, but adding this feature would require many other changes to keep balance.
I have considered about adding "up to date colonies" (current tech level building are given when colonized) and all building types given when colonized (food, industry, energy, intel and research).

they use a tech bonus increase per level.

but after adding code from that link all of the main buildings must be edited (except tech 1) so they are no longer used.

I would like to see a future UDM mod with this included (and "up-to-date" colonies), but since I fail at hex editing , I guess I'll have to wait. I suppose you have lots of other projects that you are working on.
