Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
that is correct size for german stbof.res btwcaptaindusk wrote:my stbof.res is only 92,7MB not 93,1MB.
I have to ask you to do a little testing please
backup trek.exe and stbof.res from rc3
uninstall rc3 and reinstall last stable version. test if game runs
backup stbof.res and trek.exe from stable version
add stbof.res and trek.exe into to stable install one at a time and test between adding to see what file is causing issue.
edit; it would not surprise me if last stable install works with both files from rc3.
but still have a few other tests if they do

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
Last stable version runs without problems after plain installation.
added trek.exe from RC3 and game still works
then I added stbof.res from RC3 and game still works
just as you predicted.
just let me know your other tests and I'll do them.

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
I am guessing you still have last stable version and rc3 res and trek still installed. just in case we need it again backup botf folder less mod folders.
install rc3
I should have thought of this sooner.
on fresh install of window 8/10 they are missing some of the older directX files so you need to install this
DirectX 9 redist
DirectX 9 redist only adds any files that are not present on your system and does not change your current version of directX
The reason this maybe required on RC3, I have removed some files from the BOTF install that were outdated/no longer needed. But game may call the files from DirectX 9 redist?

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
Yes I had stable version with replaced files still installed and backed it up.
I then uninstalled stable version and installed rc3.
after that I installed the direct X runtime file.
But game still won't launch.

Hi, TC, sorry for late response. Here are the answers to your query:thunderchero wrote:looks like files are all there.
stbof.res 93.1 mb?
does crash log have any info?
DxWnd you use fullscreen or windowed?
could I have a little info on system
desktop, laptop?
screen current resolution?
video card info?
have you tried re-installing?
1/ stbof.res is 93.1 mb
2/ I've attached the crash.log below but it does not say any errors.
3/ DxWnd is windowed, fullscreen also the same result
4/ System information: Laptop, i7-4700, 3GB Nvidia GTX 870M (w/ Optimus), 16GB RAM, Screen Res. 1920x1080.
I have not tried the other troubleshooting steps posted after me, will try to do those now and report back shortly.

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
drvmgt.dll and
dplayerx.dll
are missing in stable backup. I dunno why. I'm sure I copied everything. the game did launch before adding files
I copied the other files you mentioned over to rc3 install one by one with starting in between without success.

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
tried em one by one without luck
Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
Followed everything up to this point with no success either. I've made a backup of 1.0.2 files that are non-existent in 1.0.3, pasted the extra 1.0.2 files into the 1.0.3 installation folder and still no success. Replaced 1.0.3 trek.exe and stbof.res with 1.0.2 trek.exe and stbof.res with no success either.

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
first change stbof.ini 3D=SOFTWARE to 3D=DIRECT3Dcaptaindusk wrote:tried em one by one without luck
next files to try would be all the mpr files (add all file at same time)
gen.mpr
mpr97.dll
mpr555.dll
mpr555p.dll
mpr555m.dll
mpr555pm.dll
mpr565.dll
mpr565p.dll
mpr565m.dll
mpr565pm.dll
if you install using direct3d? also add these files and change stbof.ini 3D=SOFTWARE to 3D=DIRECT3D
gr3dfx.mpr
mprd3d.mpr
mprp2.mpr
sh34w32.DLL

Re: Multi Installer RC3 available (open testing)
Try changing 1.0.3 stbof.ini
CDPATH=C:\botf\
HDPATH=C:\botf\
to your game installed directory.
