Crash on game load up
Hello, new guy here o/
trying to play UDM3 on win 10, i can run vanilla botf from the udm installation but whenever i try to play udm or udmL the game always crashes to the desktop on galaxy loading screen, crashs before i can even see the map. I have followed the install instructions and used the multi installtion, also tried many different compat settings in the properties from right clicking on the exe's. Not sure what else I can try does anyone else have any feedback that may be useful? Thanks ahead

Re: Crash on game load up
any crash log in UDM folders?
note on large galaxy version it takes longer to generate galaxy. so let race video play
you might have a corrupt download? of either main multi (backup might have gotten corrupt) or UDM

Hi! I have the same problem. Letting the video play makes no difference (normal galaxy size). Vanilla BOTF works perfectly fine but is too boring ...

Crash.log in the main folder and in /UDM remain empty. No changes made.

Re: Crash on game load up
check your compatibility settings for the trek.exe.
right click the trek.exe in UDM folders (normal and large folder) one at a time and select compatibility tab. all options need to be uncheck when using DxWnd

Re: Crash on game load up
Tried everything unchecked and tried XP SP3, tried Admin, with and without DxWnd in all combinations. Always crashes on game load up.The "Game loading" with the spinning UFP logo shows up (or whatever UDM is using, I don't remember) and after half a second the game crashes without any error message. Didn't happen with the old installer, and I tried it about 20 times with the old installer because I've always uninstalled and reinstalled BOTF for/after a game (for time management reasons) and never had a problem. The new installer never worked on either my Surface Pro or my PC (both Win 10). Is there a link for the old installer? I'd like to try that one one more time.

Hi darthmaul,
Guess what......, I tried to duplicate the issues you are having and I am having same issues.
Did windows 10 just do an update to version 1607?
I have tried using all versions of multi and UDM and have no idea why this is only happening on UDM
when/if I find a solution I will post it here.

Re: Crash on game load up
I never had a problem pre-1607 I think. The last time I played UDM was maybe in Spring 2016 and 1607 got out in August I think. Perhaps 1607 corrupted UDM. I've tested UDM in linuxmint-18-xfce-64bit with wine and the game loaded without problems, I could play till it crashed at the first 3d fight (which is kind of what I expected). So this seems to be a Windows issue.

Re: Crash on game load up
well my laptop with 1607 UDM plays normally with DxWnd, but it has an intel graphic card. My desktop has an radeon amd graphic card with a new driver.darthmaul wrote:So this seems to be a Windows issue.
my system will not allow older driver installer to run. it just says (contact AMD support). what I can not figure out is why.
affected mods; UDM, UCW, TMPM, AFC, FDA

Re: Crash on game load up
process of elimination.... that was not easy.
what is in common for these mods? UDM, UCW, TMPM, AFC, FDA
they use the replacement sun animations. for some reason the new AMD video driver does not like these animations.
here are the vanilla animation to replace them.
unzip and use UE to add them to affected mod.

Re: Crash on game load up
You're my hero! I'm gonna test it in the afternoon ... My PC has a Radeon card too, my Surface Pro an Intel chip.
edit: Confirmed, works with the sun animations from your zip file.
