(resolved) All in One Anti-virus issues (False Positives)

Post by thunderchero »

Hi Everyone,

Notice; Avast issue was resolved on 3-15-17
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3538&p=47648#p47648

If you get any warning or blocked files Please post here.

I will work with any anti virus company by submitting any file to them to resolve the issue.

Info I need;

Name of antivirus software (Norton, Mcaffe, avast, ect)
Name of file/files blocked or flagged. (your software should have log with file name)

Once I have this info the file or files will be submitted to your antivirus company for inspection. (you can also do this yourself)

Then once files have been approved, you would need to update your software definitions and you should have no more issues.

Just to note, installation stalls with Avast. it throws up threat report and blocks files, didn't catch the errors and had to erase the reg keys to restart with shields down. so mebe Version 1.01 or whatever can get a little change of install order, Files->Reg keys...? only three mods had start menu shortcuts and none had entries in add/remove programs. so... reg keys once the rest works? to note, I had the widescreen mod set for all mods/ Full install of everything.

Oops Wrong topic, plz delete.

this is correct topic (installer issue not windows)
AlexMcpherson79 wrote:installation stalls with Avast
sad, but not surprised. Avast often flags unknown files.
AlexMcpherson79 wrote:didn't catch the errors
if anyone can relay error message to me please do so, so files can be submitted to Avast for testing.

just wondering did you temporally turn off Avast to install? or tell it to ignore error/file?

Yeah, shut off 'shields', installed fine. works okay (playing UM5 atm.)

I think it's because,. when avast flags a file during install, it makes the installer hiccup or whatever. and from there, it ends up hanging and have to end-task from the task manager. (also, listed four times?)

If you find any Avast log, I would like to submit file to Avast for evaluation.

sorry Avast is giving you a false positive. but avast tends block files before testing.

please more exact info. screenshot of message or something

this happened during download?

I have no problem with Avast testing files. I just need to know what files they need to test.

anyway I have started a support ticket with avast to resolve issue.

Tried to download twice yesterday, came up with this both times, 22/02/2017 1:16:22 PM |>Inno2529.bin|>habit.bin [L] VBS:Malware-gen (0)
22/02/2017 3:19:11 PM |>Inno2529.bin|>habit.bin [L] VBS:Malware-gen (0)
Download stopped at about 1.08g. would not resume.

all those interested in my continued support of a virus/malware free files might want to read this topic from 2010 when many anti-virus company flagged the first release of the multi installer.

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1527

this process may take a few weeks or more depending on if other anti-virus companies flag as false positive.

Also this time I have no plans on removing file, this just slows down process. What I need, is to know as soon as possible any reports from antivirus companies flagging any file so file can be submitted as soon as possible.

But this also goes to show how popular this game still is even after almost 17 years

my first reply from Avast was a little strange (the analysts spelling is horrible) But this still does not explain why download was blocked by avast
Hello,

I dont see any decetion on the insallation file

Best Regards

Jiri Tribula

Virus Analysts
so I also submitted the log you provided and waiting reply from Avast

but I thought it was strange if link was blocked by avast why would it wait until 99% complete to give message?

So I am very confused.

I suggest you make sure your avast definitions are up to date and try again. and as soon as you get message get a screenshot of message. then attach image here. this might be helpful.

Thank you for posting results.

I am tempted to move these avast posts to a new topic in general chat since it was an avast issue, not a problem with All in one installer. topic would be renamed "Avast download issues"

any objections?

note; since AlexMcpherson79 issue was never solved/reason found those posts would still remain.
that reminds me, AlexMcpherson79 have you tried with shields on? Avast may have updated definitions.

sounds like 'false positive', a term that became so common with the AV blockers that they got used to abbreviate it
