you can not overwrite, you can not delete to uninstall, you must use the uninstaller the mods creates to completely uninstall.

but it sounds like it is too late at this point.

this may be difficult for you then, but just follow directions below.

open "regedit.exe" in C:\windows folder.

find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microprose\Star Trek: UM5 (64 Bit systems)

find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microprose\Star Trek: UM5 (32 Bit systems)

select the "Star Trek: UM5" folder on left and right click, from menu select delete and confirm deletion.

note; you may need to run regedit.exe as administrator

then all in one will install UM5

Hi all,

Just downloaded BOTF after watching Ben and Lewis of the Yogscast playing it on youtube. But the installer seemed to stop when the installation had completed and stayed that way for over half an hour. I closed it and although all the icons are there, the game never seems to launch...

What have I missed? Other than the probably obvious mistake of closing the installer.

Thanks,

Malcolm

please submit a support ticket so we can have more info to help you

but yes, if you selected every option it may take a 1/2 hour or more depending on your system specs to completely install.

What do the DXwnd tools do? I can't get them to do anything, neither do i see the green circles like on yours? ... Does it provide a way to run some mods at the same time?

DxWnd is a helper tools to allow 16bit gaming on newer operating system.

to use it must be installed before or at same time as mods. if you have no green dots mods were installed before dxwnd

nothing will allow mods to run at same time.

Hi Everyone,

After a member contacted me with an issue, I found a minor syntax error.

The issue is when installed to a non default location (C:\botf) the script will not edit the dxwnd.ini to the new install path.

So if you change install path you will need to edit DxWnd "path" and "launch" paths until replacement installer is created.

sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi Everyone,

!!! NOTICE !!!!

If User changes default install path from "C:\botf", installer will not set the proper path for trek.exe in DxWnd.

The DxWnd path is easy to adjust, for more info read this post
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3179#p42272

I will try to get a replacement installer asap but I have many adjustments I need/want to make.

1. fix install path error
2. update all links to https://
3. add option to install anyway when registries are detected
4. add links in tools for "How to" pages for Ultimate Editor Basics, Large Map Generation Chart and tutorial for UE, How to lower the number of Palettes and Adding new models Using UE
5. change text in installer "full installation" to "Select Components to install" on component page
6. update to latest version of DxWnd
7. add QD's EdificePatcher for UnCivil War editing
8. update all the patches for QD's patcher, add missing descriptions, change links to https://, add new patches for more mods and add patch tweaks.

As you see this is a long list, so this may take some time.

You will notice no "game play" changes are planned, so if the current version is working for you, there will not be much of a reason to download newer version right away.

Installed this mod and left the directory as default, but when I try to run any of the mods, including vanilla I get this error, I am pretty sure I have followed the guide but I might have missed something. Can anyone help?

I think I see the links in question and they have been corrected, no account is required for downloading files.
