I am new to this website and the game and I have 3 questions

Post by volbound »

I finally got to play BOTF thanks to this website and it was great! I have three questions:

1. Is there a way to play hotseat? Has anyone made this mod?

2. Is there a mod that has the civilizations in their correct locations/accurate layout of Alpha/Beta quadrant?

3. I haven't included most of the Mods in my download. Is there a summary of all the Mods that come with the original download? (i.e. explain the changes/what it comes with)

Hi volbound,

welcome to the forum,

1. explain what you think "hotseat" is.

2. only 1 was attempted, it was based on an older version of UDMIII here is link viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1256 new files added for use with All in One installer.

3. You have 2 options 1. reaadme files here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3596#p48084 2. read the topics for each mod in this section viewforum.php?f=24

Thank you for the update.

By hotseat, I mean that you could play multiple races from the same computer. Similar to Master of Orion II or the Civilization games version of hotseat.

It would still be a Multi-payer game. MPR++ allows multiple instants running on same computer. so player "A'" would use one instance and Player "B" would use other instance, not sure how many MPR++ will allow? So each player could take turns on same computer.

here is link to request MPR++ files.

Ok trying it and I guess I am lost. I launch the game and start Multiplayer and I have "Network", "Modem", and "Serial" options. No Hotseat. Which do I try and how do I get it going?

I will presume you have MPR++ installed to the version you want to run hotseat.

start game though install path trek.exe

again start game though install path trek.exe

this will give you 2 separate instance's running.

on first instance select multi player, in multi player screen select host, select network, select tcp/ip (do not enter any IP) create game name and player name. click connect

on second instance select multi player, in multi player screen select join, select network, select tcp/ip (do not enter any IP) enter same game name as used in first instance, enter player name and click connect. in next screen select line with game name and click join.

now both instances should be on select race screen, after both player select race host will start game. and start taking turns.

There is no "Hotseat" option.

Just multiple instances on the same computer.
