Hi, again not tech savvy, I was playing on my PC and now most of the games have cursor lag, which makes it unplayable, is there any direct support for Win11, or can someone team view and fix this for me please? I live in Florida so EST, really destress playing this, I literally don't know how to fix it lol

Re: Win 11 PC Lag Mouse Issues again
There is also a rare issue for some systems if the game crashes using dxwnd default fullscreen proxy.
For some reason after this dxwnd doesn't compensate the mouse lag for the crashed mod anymore.
Solution is either reinstallation or switch to other proxy file (ddraw works for me): viewtopic.php?p=56793#p56793

on 1 dual monitor setup he ended up running directly from DxWnd gui (after proxy files removed)
but he has not attempted to create his own proxy files. He says it work now, and does not want to mess that up.

Only because of my issue (no one else reported this AFAIK)? ddraw proxy has smallish downsides vs winmm:thunderchero wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 11:46 amlatest Release candidate come with ddraw proxy for fullscreen![]()
- launches and ends BotF slower
- in fullscreen mode can lead to black screen starting new games (not when launching BotF)
Second seems testing related. Ending/starting different mods in close succession. Symptoms equal a 'galaxy hangup' where the empire intro should start.
Not the worst solution, doesn't require desktop icons, but one needs to know how to use -Mudd in this case.thunderchero wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 11:46 amrunning directly from DxWnd gui (after proxy files removed)

Re: Win 11 PC Lag Mouse Issues again
I can only create a generic proxy that is based on my system.
example; if user has dual monitors it would be best if user creates personal proxy files based on his system configuration.
he even packs winmm.dll in password protected zip file.
also prior releases of dxwnd, ddraw proxy would not even work in fullscreen
that is why I had not used it before now.

I get same thing some times in window mode.Spocks-cuddly-tribble wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 10:28 am - in fullscreen mode can lead to black screen starting new games (not when launching BotF)
there has been issues on Discord as well as other winmm issues (developer of DxWnd says winmm should be used as last resort)Spocks-cuddly-tribble wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 10:28 am Only because of my issue (no one else reported this AFAIK)

Re: Win 11 PC Lag Mouse Issues again
almost sounds like you have more than 1 issue
suggestions to try
check md5 hash of download
https://emn178.github.io/online-tools/md5_checksum.html
hash for most active RC2
96484bfa9f8ad7c5f856de6b1b7bbb6b
hash for older RC2
007f5f1ae0cd380587125f628cc8a38d
sometime windows update has been known to interfere with install if an update is pending.
if currently you are only having mouse lag make sure these files are not being blocked by AV or windows
dxwnd.dll (main proxy file, same file for fullscreen and windowed modes)
dxwnd.dxw (configuration file with settings, different file settings for fullscreen and windowed modes)
ddraw.dll (main dll file, same file for fullscreen and windowed modes)

Re: Win 11 PC Lag Mouse Issues again
Thank you, the hash checked out and the files were not blocked, but there was a dwwnd.dll.tmp file. I just reinstalled the game again and now there is no *.tmp file and the game is running smoothly..

Re: Win 11 PC Lag Mouse Issues again
the "dxwnd.lockfile.tmp" is created during game play, but should be deleted when game closes.

Re: Win 11 PC Lag Mouse Issues again
this happened to me yesterday after a Win11 update and reinstalling the game worked like a charm.
backup stbof.res and trek.exe if you have changes from the original install.
uninstall the MOD.
install it again.
overwrite stbof.res and trek.exe with your backup
