It has been long awaited so here it is:

Tournament 3 - Season 1 2009

This will be a Double Elimination bracket tournament were losser of Main Tournament will continue fighting in the Second Tournament, like JBL suggested!
Everyone is welcome, you don't need to be a professional botf junkie!

Matchup and Dating:

matchup as well as first race choice by randomized bracket, done by thunderchero :)
  • test phase and last minute changes till january the 2nd (1 week)
  • signup till january the 16th (2 weeks)
  • first round begins on january the 17th, duration: 1 week (+3 optional days on extension)
  • second round duration: 1 week (+5 optional days on extension)
  • third round duration: 1 week (+7 optional days on extension)
  • semi final round duration: 1 week (+10 optional days on extension)
  • final round duration: 2 weeks (+7 optional days on extension)
Both opponents of each match are responsible to contact each other immediately after being matched up and share their preferred times for playing (including timezone!) as well as the network they wish to use!
Preferred network should be eWarZone but if you can't get it work, you may instead try using others like Hamachi!
Both are resposible to find a time to play and to solve any circumstances that may occure.
If you know you're not online on this site for more than one day while being matched, you need to inform me about!
If you don't get a response from your opponent or it's useless, you need to inform me about!
If I'm not informed and there's disagreement and I'm not able to determine who's right and who's not and I'm unable to solve it in some other way, both players will be dropped from tournament! So please don't wait on your opponent to contact.
Always check your private messages cause that's the medium all subscribers have in common.

For extension, a defined time when opponents will play must be made.
If a player has to forfeit, an already lossing player of same bracket can take his place and get another week for the fight if necessary. If still in plain tournament, you've the choice to advance back in main tournament bracket.

Game Conditions:

all games 1vs1, domination, irregular, 5min strategical timer (see rules), modified new vanilla 1.0.3 with removed trade routes but two for ferengi (done to lower the power of the ferengi in relation to other races, especially on low tech)

1st: tech5, normal difficulty, many minors, random off, small map
2nd: tech4, normal, many minors, random off, small map
3rd: tech3, normal, some minors, random on but BORG=OFF, small map
semi final: tech3, hard, some minors, random on but BORG=OFF, medium map
final: tech3, hard, no minors, random on but BORG=OFF, big map

Rules:

First game that loads has to be played, no restart allowed to simplify tournament!

Pauses have to be requested a turn before taking place and you should make clear agreements on when to continue.
If needing to depart quickly for a short moment, you can swap to desktop and afterwards back to the game. BotF will automaticly pause the timer for you, but keep aware that your opponent might be waiting on the other end. Abuse of course is forbidden.

Agreements on disabling the timer (or using another value) are allowed for specific turns as well as for whole game.

If game crashes in combat, so turn has to be redone, you've to do the same again as you did before! Especially same ship movements, strategically and tactically!

Don't abuse aliens like the Edo Guardian for crew training!

Keep it fair, friendly and honorable!

People can either tell me that they've lost or forfeit, or send me the save of the turn when they've won and I'll assume it's true as long I don't hear any contrary.
This can be accomplished by sending me a pm, posting results to this thread or contacting me directly on warzone,... (assuming I'm online and available).

Ill play but Im not sure Ill be comfortable with the conditions.

I need to play with a BIG MAP and Many Minors. Its just a habit. Having no minors ... and a small map doesnt interest me. I like having the most canon conditions possible.

Are we allowed to edit some of the conditions?

Changes are still possible but should only be minor ones. And please discuss this in the Pre-Discussion Thread ;)

Big maps on tech3 will definately not be played until final cause they would last too long and half or more of the games wouldn't get finished, remembering that in last tournament even on tech5 medium map many people had to forfeit cause they didn't get it coordinated.
Many minors is already set for the first two rounds. It is just my personal preferrence not to use it on 3rd and semi final game so this is something I might change if more people give corresponding input in the discussion thread that already has been opened since "Wed Nov 05, 2008 5:52 pm". ;)
Having no minors in the final makes it much more strategic in my opinion and gives much more interesting MP games in my experience. Anyway I might get convinced on this as well cause I can understand people liking minors and didn't believed it to be that interesting completely without of them for a very long time by myself, too.

But great to get another signup. :)
