In The Sky Is It... A bird? A plane? Its your Amazon order.

Post by cleverwise »

The drones are coming! The drones are coming! That's right Amazon is working on air drones to deliver orders within 30 minutes to a home or business via unmanned air drones. Amazon has been testing this air system and is looking toward a 2015 launch date. Not sure I like this one and the Senate is going to be holding hearings about these Amazon drones. Amazon isn't the only company looking into this technology. What say you?

I am sure the service would be very limited but I don't think Amazon is kidding. They have petitioned the FAA to change the rules for commercial drones. I know Amazon uses robots to grab products in many of their warehouses. I do like technology but I am not sure I trust or like this idea.

It is like Google Glasses. It is very interesting to talk about the technology behind it but I am not sure I really want a pair.

here a funny twitter account:

here another one:

Dominos DomiCopter - First Drone Pizza Delivery

could be. Could also be an image campaign, so people don't associate drones only with missiles and bombs anymore. When I read stuff like this I can't help but to think about lost jobs through technology. I mean wow... even the classic job of a pizza delivery guy / delivery guy may be in danger in the future.

I've seen a lot of comments of people who want to shoot that drone down ;)

it should better be able to self defend. A couple of lasers can't hurt after all, or could they? ;D

It is also being reported that UPS is researching drone technology too. So soon, as KrazeeXXL points out, there will be pizza delivery drones, package drones, junk mail drones, you name it.

I think the best defense is the ant idea. The package drones will be the workers, however there will be soldier drones. If someone downs a package drone here comes the soldier drones armed with missiles and machine guns. Oh wait! I mean here come the Predator drones.

Die Deutsche Post hat zu viel Geld:

The Deutsche Post has too much money.

TL;DR

inspired by amazon, they're testing their own drone now.

Funny thing... spend some money into research to save money later on, while you fire tens of thousand of employees. So fucking retarded... Also reminds me of kids and their toys. The bosses obviously have too much times on their hands. I guess it's kinda cool, tho, to steer such a copter.

Just imagine that any of those little fuckers is equipped with a camera...

Yeah several companies have expressed interested in air drones. We shall see what develops. I am waiting for people to start hacking into their control signals. ;)

hm. package/drone - the new 21st century theft.

this is probably going to lead to new restricting laws and even more surveillance. ;)

but uhm ok. I guess besides Eyes in the Skies, there's not much more surveillance possible than what is already happening. At least for us here in Europe. But there's still a lot of room left in the US!

I guess they'll stealth them anyway. So you won't be "disturbed" by their noises. (and their counterparts in wars can benefit from that, too).

Yea, they definitely have to be stealthed. I read a lot of comments of rednecks who want to shoot those things down ;)

Yeah I have seen some comments to the effect of: Want something for yourself? Just down an Amazon Prime Drone. ;)

Of course as a guy you'll down one with a dress or purse.

I've read an article about that new drone a couple of days ago. One thing which came to my mind: Cylons ;D
