AAML Crashes after combat, turn 1117

Post by baz08 »

Hi, having issues on this mod, on turn 1117, large galaxy, lots of systems in my empire, being playing this one for many weeks, all of a sudden combat options no matter what i pick, hail, auto, or fight and any victory leads to a crash after combat has ended when the turn is processing. Sometimes if i fight but set ships to retreat or hail only the turn completes as expected and then the issue persists at the next instance of combat that in following turns, but other times it crashes to desktop straight away after combat.

I have already added the morale limit fix patch via the patcher to no effect. There isn't a botf crash log being created for this crash as the last log was from 3 days ago, it's crashed a dozen times since then. I have the following from the windows event viewer log if this could be of use?

Faulting application name: trek.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x37965563
Faulting module name: trek.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x37965563

Faulting application start time: 0x01d926f0ce204388
Faulting application path: C:\botf\AAML\trek.exe

Report ID: 91941799-a8ba-42a6-97d3-f74c5081fa26

Faulting package-relative application ID:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as been on this particular game for over a month and close to finishing it.

Thanks for any and all help :)

Ultimate Editor (dev version) has a saved game repair function. So either use it or upload your saved game so one of the guys can try to fix it.
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

I will definitely take a look. 1000+ turn games are rare and it is nice to figure some issues on long running games.
Last time I had a look at a broken long turn game like this, I've however not been too successful: viewtopic.php?p=56326#p56326

Again a code reading the ships in task forces (GTForceList for AI): -> strange offset -> no vanilla asm location

Code: Select all

0042D474 num_ships_in_TF: ; CODE XREF: System_Threat_Level__4_sectors
Is this with the new/fixed save from thunterchero?

So either ship/fleet files are corrupted (UE check should have noticed/fixed?) or a patch issue (18 ships per fleet)?
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

Yes the second error log is from the saved file.

I don't have the 18 ship fleet patch, still just on the 9 ships per fleet. Should i try adding the patch?

No!

New crash when loading, after battle or ending turn even without battle?

Crashed once just after clicking turn, that was when just using the "continue" option, then for the 2nd crash when using the saved game provided, it crashed after battle. There was something strange which i did notice, some ships were appearing in fleets as well as separately listed even after trying to redeploy e.g. a ship both in a fleet as well as not

- Load new/fixed game.
- Do not re-deploy any fleets/ships.
- Try to avoid battle for 1 turn (move task forces without re-deploy).
- Save next turn to new slot.
- After this (or 1 more turn waiting) try battle again.

Battle is actually unavoidable as i have enemy ships passing through sectors with starbases even if i move the ships but anyway

Loaded new/fixed game
Did not do anything, hit turn button
It then crashed whilst the processing turn screen was displayed

giving the following windows event log

Faulting application name: trek.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x37965563
Faulting module name: trek.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x37965563

Tried again a second time

loaded new/fixed game
This time tried to move all ships away from any area they may enter combat
same crash happened whilst processing turn screen displayed

second error

You can try to reset all AI files by switching player empire and back (in the fixed save game).

But it is a bit work since we don't know the affected AI empire(s): viewtopic.php?p=57851#p57851
