crash at ram

Post by VoivoD »

Hey so I have a group of 9 ships of light cruisers and command cruisers. I have to fight off Calamarian.
The only effective strategy is ram. I do this 1-2 times and the game crashes.

depending on what version/mod this is happening, the answer might be different.

from error log you might need to apply this patch
"Wrong Ship displayed after Successful Ramming (Fix)"
viewtopic.php?p=54579#p54579

vanilla has always had issues with larger/slower ships ramming.

some mods have even removed ram command due to these issues

ECM has made some improvement to decrease error, but don't think this issue is still completely resolved yet.

Known crash issue with the ram command. Not that common, but it happens from time to time with simultaneous ram orders (i.e. both ships try to ram each other). Might be an issue with the Calamarian hob dimensions (only a 2D model)?

And if ships targeted via ram use re-cloak then the attacker just has to reach the last uncloaked position to inflict the ram collision damage (3D data out of sync). :dwn:

"Wrong Ship displayed after Successful Ramming (Fix)" -> just a cosmetic patch for a display error

And with ECM this crash happens (slightly) more often since AI rams more often and uses sundry solo mode commands (but still not a common issue).
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.
